2011 Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day - HUGE SUCCESS!!!

This past Sunday the CMBA hosted our annual Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day.  For the first time ever, the CMBA ran two fun events on the same day, one in Fish Creek and the other at Canada Olympic Park.  Families from both the north and south of Calgary could come out and enjoy biking with us at an event close to home.

Sponsored by Pure Cycle, Bow Cycle, MEC, WinSport Canada (COP), Ridley's Cycle, The Cyclepath, BaSE, Spin Sisters, and Friends of Fish Creek, both events had plenty of kids come and enjoy the great riding and amazing weather.

Extra special thanks to our photographer for the day Jose Quiroz.  If people would like larger copies of any of the day's photos, contact Jose at info@jqpix.com, or view more of his work at PinkBike.

The morning kicked off with cross country riding in Fish Creek follwed by a BBQ and draw prizes from all our sponsors.

These three little bikers ripped it up on all the singletrack we rode that day. The future of mountain biking looks strong here!

JF from BaSE leads out a group of kids for a fun ride!

Spin Sisters were on hand to lead out group rides and show the kids how it's done!

Staff from Pure Cycle gave out free bike tuneups to everyone who needed help. Extra special thanks for all their hard work!

Carla, our cook, slaved over the BBQ cooking up a huge mess of burger and hot dogs for all the kids. Yum!

Time for the draw prizes! Thanks to all our sponsors for chipping in!

Two very happy prize winners!

The afternoon saw us all move to COP in the north for some good downhill fun and more draw prizes.

Bow Cycle brought a bunch of demo bikes for everyone to try on the hill. Mmmm, new bikes!

MEC had staff on hand to give out free tuneup to anyone who needed it. Extra special thanks as they worked hard that day!

Thanks again to all our sponsors, and we sure are looking forward to doing it all again next year!
