Bowmont Park 2010 Update

Bowmont Park

To clarify which trails in Bowmont Park are open, please have a look at the “Bowmont Park Brochure” on the City of Calgary website (below) for Bowmont Park.  The brochure is also available on this website.  The City of Calgary website also has more details and maps under the links: "Bowmont Improvement Project" and "Bowmont Management Plan".

All trails in Bowmont Park are multi-use trails (including bicycles) except the “interpretive trails”, such as the boardwalk and stairs in Waterfall Valley. Any trails closed to bicycles are clearly marked.  Any trails that are not marked are open to bicycles.

This summer, CMBA will be working with the City to build a new trail around the stairs and boardwalk in Waterfall Valley.  The new trail will eliminate a blind corner, allow riding through Waterfall Valley in both directions without dismounting and reduce user conflicts.  Please check this website for Trail Days in Bowmont Park and come out and help.

Some sections of trails that are not sustainable will be closed. The closures will be Hogg’s Back in Waterfall Valley and a section of trail east of Waterfall Valley along the Bow River escarpment.  These sections will be clearly marked when they are closed.

Again: please help us build more trails in Bowmont Park!
