Building Trail With Scouts Canada
The May 11 trail work went very well. The weather was perfect and the trails were mostly dry. We met up with a scout troup, parents, and siblings and led them up onto the lower part of Snagmore trail. We split into 4 groups. One group worked on a pretty rough uphill, taking out two mounds and using the dirt to re-radius a corner and put in a nice berm. The second group took out a bunch of logs that were covering a stream crossing through a dip in the trail. They put in a culvert and built up the trail to cover it. They did an awesome job. The third group started at a bridge, placing rocks at both approaches to make a safer ride onto the bridge. When finished, worked on some boggy areas on the trail. The fourth group worked on a corner and boggy area further up the trail.
The scouts were very enthusiastic and worked hard. Bryce from GBCTA was very pleased with the results as was I. A great trail was made even better. It was a great way to start the year and I really enjoyed working with the scouts!
