It's 05, and we're well alive!

A belated hello to all. I trust the year has been good to everyone, and with a hint of spring on it's way, we hope to see those bikes out soon! CMBA executive members have had a productive winter thusfar. Perhaps a brief outline of the work ongoing to bring you all up to speed.

  • Dirt Jump Park locations are being sought out "aggressively". As we lost our potential site from 2 years ago, we have been working close with our friends at the City to help us locate, secure, and build on a piece of land that is prime. We move on due to our goal of having it open by now ... a long, sad story, however, we have put this on the front lines. Thanks to several who have supported this well ... Glenn, and Danny ...
  • Nose Hill Park ... if you haven't done so, please read the news item just released on the last public meeting on the Hill ... It seems we bikers are getting some serious attention ... good for us !! We have an excellent relationship with those involved in the process, and have said many times, it's due to our members, that we can support the Hill as we should ... and do ... well done to those who sat through some verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long meetings ... thanks Pete ...
  • Fish Creek Park ... we are hoping to work with the Friends of Fish Creek this year on maintenance, and support for the trails system there ... hopefully we can again draw on you, the members, for help on trails this summer ... lots of good ideas being bounced around, and CMBA certainly wants to participate.
  • 12 Mile Coulee ... again, more efforts and work by several members to help develop, and structure trails in this beautiful area. Please feel free to call up Bob to show you where to ride ... some nice trails ... thanks Dave ...
  • Moose Mountain ... We have made more friends from the excellent efforts of many of you, on the clean up of runs that went through sensitive areas in that park. Will there be more "work" weekends ... stay tuned for the fun times ... thanks to Paul and group ...
  • Bowmont Park ... we have help on this Park along the same lines as others, in that CMBA has been asked by the City to help determine routes that will be advantages to all ... thanks Bob

That is touching on the main issues right now. We are looking at several other projects at the moment ... are you interested in helping out?

May I relate a true story ... I received a call from a gentleman that said he took up mountain biking at a "late" age, and was loving any time he could spend on it ... we chatted for an hour, and he recalled some life experiences, which I'm always willing to listen to .. (maybe I'll grow up one day to put some of this knowledge to use).

Turns out he wants to volunteer at trail work ... so ... how old are you Mr. --- ? ... "I'm 82 years young " he responded ...

Well ... did he have the right stuff or what !

Are we getting a little older? Maybe put on a few pounds, that are for sure coming off this summer? Maybe we are busy with work, kids, families, or other necessary parts of life.

Whatever our circumstances, please remember ... we are as young as we want to be, or think ... my almost 70yr old Dad just got back from a cycle trip ... motor that is ... in Arizona ... he was the "life" of the party where ever we went ...

Truly wish you all well, and hope even as the days, weeks, and years go by, let's do what we all love to do ... cycle!!
