Local Trail Conditions – June 2, 2014
Wow, what a difference a couple of weeks makes! Instead of listing the few trails that are good, we can switch to listing the few trails that are likely not ready to ride or still have some snow up top.
Use your best judgement when heading out. Rainfall hasn’t been heavy lately, but has been frequent enough, and some trails take longer to dry out than others. YMMV.
- Tom Snow South – Other than a few short sections linking Ridgeback and Bobcat, it’s pretty nasty. Calf-deep mud, plenty of trees down across the trail, etc. Avoid if possible.
- Jumpingpound Ridge / Cox Hill – Snow, lots of it.
- Baldy Pass – Snow at the top, fairly dry otherwise
- Moosepackers – A few short patches of snow at the very top near the junction with the Fire Lookout trail, but completely clear from the switchbacks down.
- Pneuma – Snow above Special K turnoff
- Special K – Likely some snow on the top but probably OK after that
- Powderface Short Loop – had some bits of snow last week, probably okay now but expect wetness
- Elbow Loop – An adventure ride, with snow, washouts and route-finding expected
- Quirk Creek / Wildhorse – Rumours of some snow but mostly clear? Maybe?
- Quaite Valley Trail – Still some snow, but getting better every day. Expect some wet feet and a bit of walking, but otherwise navigable.
- Stoney Squaw – snow and mud on the upper and lower parts
Most other trails are in decent early season shape, especially anything at lower elevations. Go ride yer bike!

Rode in West Bragg Thursday night, very muddy at the bottom but the rest of the trail (Ranger) was pretty decent
