Trail Building Night - June 8

When: June 8, 6:30 p.m. until we run out of light or get tired.  Please try to be on time.  This event goes rain or shine!  If you're running late, just go directly to the work site.

Where: Meet at the parking area at the 2km mark of Moose Mountain Road [click for map].  From there we will walk East ~350m to the actual work site.

What We'll Be Doing:  It's buff and polish time!  The trail has been built, but needs to be cleaned up a bit.  The idea is to smooth out the lumps and get the flow going.

Why:  We've built some trail, and it needs a finishing touch.

What to Bring:  We'll be in the woods, so wear appropriate clothing.  We recommend sturdy work boots or hiking boots, work gloves, long pants and a jacket.  Dress for the weather.  Bring some water and a snack if you like.  Remember - anything you pack in, you also need to pack out, including any recyclables or trash.  CMBA will be providing tools, but if you have a favourite chainsaw, mattock, Pulaski, fire rake or Mcleod, feel free to bring it.  Shovels will not be needed.

Who:  Trail Building Lead for the day is David Mills.  David will be distributing tools to volunteers, giving the safety/ZoD talk and providing direction.  He will also have waivers.  If you have some prior trail building experience and are interested in being a Crew Leader for the day, please send an e-mail to info@cmbalink.com with the subject "Crew Leader".

FAQ

Q: Is this legal?

A: Hell yes!  CMBA has a verbal agreement to work on several trail projects in the area, and this is one of them.

Q: Can I bring my bike so I can ride the trail afterwards?

A: Definitely!  The trail should be all buff and sweet when we're done!

THANKS!!!!

Thanks to BaSE, COC, Spin Sisters and Deadgoat Racing for coming out tonight!  I was thinking we were going to get 6 people out, but then 14 show up.  On a cold Monday night.  YOU GUYS KICK ASS.  Just wanted to let you know...  :-)

The work on the two SS trail sections is basically done.  Entrances and exits are cut, lumpy stuff is gone, duff is off and that one last stump is out [in true union style].  If you are riding Sulphur Springs, please keep an eye out for the two new sections of trail.  We had quite a few people ride through while we were working, and it was all smiles.  It's giving me a warm fuzzy.

I got a chance to ride the trail closest to the road after everyone else was gone.  It was the first ride on my new Misfit diSSent, so it was an interesting experience.  It was great - not too fast, not too slow.  Check it out when you can!
