CMBA Trail Day #3 - Sunday, July 19 - Hosted by the Spin Sisters
When: Sunday, July 19, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Please try to be on time. This event goes rain or shine! If you're running late, just go directly to the work site. After the work is done, we'll be firing up the BBQ and having some cold beverages and hot burgers!!
Where: Meet at the Station Flats parking area [click for map]. From there we will walk Northeast 10 minutes to the actual work site, just beyond the intersection of Diamond T and Tom Snow.
What We'll Be Doing: This is the first of the trails that will become the bypass route for much of Tom Snow. About 2/3 of the trail has been roughed in, with some of it being finished to the Megan Standard.
Why: After years and years of riding through the mix of mud and cow poop that develops on Tom Snow every year, we'll have alternate routes.
What to Bring: We'll be in the woods, so wear appropriate clothing. We recommend sturdy work boots or hiking boots, work gloves, long pants and a jacket. Dress for the weather. Bring enough water for the day and some lunch. Remember - anything you pack in, you also need to pack out, including any recyclables or trash. CMBA will be providing some tools, but if you have a favourite chainsaw, mattock, Pulaski, rake or Mcleod, feel free to bring it. Shovels will not be needed.
Who: Our friends from the Spin Sisters are leading the charge for this trail day! Thanks, ladies!
FAQ
Q: Is this legal?
A: Hell yes! The CMBA has TFA to work on several trail projects in the area, and this is one of them.
Q: Can I bring my bike so I can ride the trail afterwards?
A: Definitely! If all goes well, the trail should be ready to ride when we're done!
Q: How many people do you need?
A: The more the merrier, but we'd like to see at least 40 people out.
thanks to everyone
On behalf of CMBA executive, thanks to everyone that come out yesterday. We completed a large section of the new trail and enjoyed a hot burger and cold beverage as a reward. We even had some riders try the new trail for the first time and loved it!!!!!
