CMBA Trail Night - July 27
When: July 27, 6:30 p.m. until we run out of light or get tired. Please try to be on time. If you're running late, just go directly to the work site.
Where: Meet at the Station Flats trailhead. From there we will ride to the work site, just before the second bridge on Tom Snow. The first bridge is right by the intersection with Diamond-T, whereas the second bridge is farther north [creek crossing, horses not allowed on bridge].
What We'll Be Doing: We'll be clearing out deadfall along the route of the new trail section.
Why: Riding through bogs sucks.
What to Bring: We'll be in the woods, so wear appropriate clothing. We recommend sturdy work boots or hiking boots, work gloves, long pants and a jacket. Dress for the weather. Bring some water and a snack if you like. Remember - anything you pack in, you also need to pack out, including any recyclables or trash. CMBA will be providing tools, but if you have a favourite chainsaw, mattock, Pulaski, rake or Mcleod, feel free to bring it. Shovels will not be needed.
FAQ
Q: Is this legal?
A: Hell yes! CMBA has a TFA to work on several trail projects in the area, and this is one of them.
Q: Can I bring my bike so I can ride the trail afterwards?
A: Sure thing, but the trail might not be 100% ready by the time we're done.
If you have questions/comments, log in and post them!
Thanks again to the volunteers
The mosquitoes were out in force and the beer was warm, but we got some good work done. Deadfall and branches are cleared for the first 500m or so of this re-route, and the rest of the route was flagged so we can find it again. Also, IMHO, a tree that has no branches, not much bark and is rotting out at the base is deadfall waiting to happen. Justsayinknowhatimsayin?
A couple photos from Crosscheck are here.
