Where's the Riding
Hi everyone,
I have recently move to Cranston after several years living in Edmonton. I am right on the edge of Fish Creek, overlooking Lafarge (south of 22x)
Is there any single track riding in this area? Is there any single track linking the SE (mckenzie meadows) to the western portions?
is there anyone in the SE looking to ride/explore?
Adam
Fish Creek for starters
The closest place to Cranston that I can think of would be Fish Creek park. Right now the singletrack is mostly in the west end. The fastest route from your place would probably be to take 22X to 37 St. N, then access the trails from the Shannon Terrace end. You can view the map here: http://tpr.alberta.ca/parks/fishcreek/pdf/FCPP%20STT%20Map.pdf

No Official Singletrack in South East YET, but it's coming!
Hi Astorms,
There isn't actually any official designated singletrack east of Macleod Trail yet. But, the CMBA does have an ongoing project to map and inventory all the trails in the area and work with Alberta Parks to come up with an official map. It may not be as extensive as what you see on the west side, but there will be a few designated places to ride.
I can also tell you that the east side trails will be relatively flat. If you have a beginner mountain biker with you, the east side will be a great place to take them for their first introductory ride.
In the mean time, do as suggested above, and enjoy the riding on the west. It's possibly the best trail network inside the city limits. If you drive, you can possibly use the new parking lot at Marshall Springs too.
Chris.
GPS of East Fish Creek Park
We have a GPS track of most of the trails in East Fish Creek park and are working on designating them as official with the park. We are still looking to get a GPS of the area east of Macleod Trail, north of the gravel track that runs along the river and south of the main paved pathway. There are many small trails that wind in and through the area we would like to inventory.
As well, there are a few downhill trails along the north and south walls of the park that need GPSing.
If you can help us with any of that, email info@cmbalink.com or post here.

Fish Creek
Adam, email me at vicepresident@cmbalink.com and I can show you all the trails that link east and west fish creek. I live down south as well.
Ridgeback
Just rode Ridgeback by accident... didnt know it was there cos I was (am now) not a CMBA member. I was trying to ride station flats to w Bragg Ck parking lot via Tom Snow but turned R onto Ridgeback in error thinking it was Tom Snow / Packers junction. Great trail! Next time I will mean to ride it!
Glad you enjoyed it
We'll have the deadfall and soggy spots cleaned up soon, and permanent signs [!] up as well. The long term plan is to have a trail going from the top of the ridge to the top of Ranger Ridge, then down to West Bragg parking lot. We just need approval to get things rolling.

Hey everyone, Thanks for
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your responses. I have since hit west Fish Creek a few times since. There is some pretty nice riding in there. Reminds me of the river valley back in Edmonton.
I definitely went up a few trails that i am sure would have been much more fun going down, but you learn these things only after riding. It's a great area!
I am up for riding just about any time. We're expecting our second kid on July 30, so i'll need to get some serious saddle time in before then.
