Canmore Nordic Centre
Canmore Nordic Centre
There have been a lot of changes to the Nordic Centre over the last 20+ years, but it continues to provide some of the best [IMHO] singletrack riding in the Calgary area.
The main website is http://www.tpr.alberta.ca/parks/kananaskis/parks_canmore.asp.
In 2009, CNC secured a large quantity of grant money to enhance the singletrack system. This includes new trails, signage, repair of older trails and decommissioning unsustainable trails. This is a multi-year project, with work beginning in the fall of 2009 and slated for completion in 2013. You can read about the Summer Trail Master Plan here.
What does this mean for mountain bikers? Lots of riding! Trail maps are available from the day lodge, but not all of the trails are signed [as of August 2010], making route finding a bit of a challenge. That said, there is so much singletrack to explore, it's worth it to get a bit lost. Also, signs are being added to trails on an almost daily basis, so it won't be long before it's almost impossible to get lost. After your ride, pop down into the town of Canmore and grab a bite/beverage at Mercato, the Rose and Crown or any of the other awesome restaurants.

Canmore Nordic Centre in good shape
Test rode the Rundle Revenge course today and CNC is in pretty good shape. A few mud patches but some sweet riding to be had and currently a better option than Moose Mountain area.
The RR course is being marked out today (23Jun) so you can pre-ride it for this (or next) year on Friday! A great course and spots still available for 25, 50 or the sick 100km ride. Go on, you know you want to!!
Cool
Cool, thanks for the info!
