Moraine Lake Highline Trail - Open to Bikes

Banff National Park

This good news comes following the report by grizzly bear expert Steve Herrero who was unaware of any ecological rationale for managing cyclists separately from other users. The trail will no longer be managed using restricted access and the upper section will be seasonally closed to ALL users during berry season. Parks Canada is also investigating the potential development of a drop-out trail connecting the trail to Moraine Lake Road. Based on this report, Parks Canada has concluded that "Mountain biking on the Highline Trail is both an allowable and appropriate activity, so we're not going to eliminate mountain biking". Many thanks go to the people who helped make this happen.
