Waterfall Valley will have an interpretive trail running north-south along the bottom of the valley from the north end by the Silver Springs Plaza down to the river. The alignment of the designated trail, for both walkers and cyclists, that will ring or circumnavigate the upper, northern portion of the valley was the topic of discussion.

Moose Mountain Trail Day - rescheduled
May 2004

NickDue to the "interesting" weather the Calgary area has experienced in the past 48 hours, the Moose Mountain Trail Day originally scheduled for Sunday May 16th has been tentatively rescheduled for Sunday, June 6, 2004. Although the weather is supposed to get better in the next 24 hours, the quantity of snow that fell on Moose Mountain is significantly more than what is present in the City, therefore even if the temperatures are above 15C, not all of the snow will melt and dry out.

12 Mile Coulee Management Plan
May 2004

CMBA is looking for volunteers to participate in the City of Calgary's 12 Mile Coulee Management Plan. The required qualifications are:

  • Riding knowledge of the area.
  • Understanding of the need for protection of the natural area.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of other user groups.

Volunteering will require a commitment to attend four 2 hour meetings in June, review materials, develop recommendations and provide information to other CMBA members.

Participation in management plans is critical to protecting our rights to mountain bike in these areas. By being involved at the planning stage we can influence the plan to reflect the needs of mountain bikers while reducing user conflict and protecting the natural character of the area.

Position filled.
We would like to thank everyone who volunteered.

So, there is a trail maintenance day being organized for Sunday, June 6th, 2004. (Note the new date)

The last trail day went extremely well. So, sticking with the same theme, there will be a BBQ, drinks and beer after the work is done.
