World Cup Weekend

Yahoo! The premiere event of the Summer is not the Stampede, it is the World Cup Race in Canmore! July 6 to 9th, Canmore hosts the Mountain Bike World Cup; it looks to be a great race, but more importantly, a great time! Come watch the real pros race and have your visions of glory smashed.

Did you know that anybody volunteering at the World Cup MTB Race will get a free pass? If you are willing to volunteer we need to know ASAP (re: before June 29). As a volunteer you will be manning the CMBA tent along with other volunteers and helping to explain who we are and what we do, don't worry, you will be briefed.

Don't forget that on Saturday night there will be a "special" race as well. Hopefully this year's weekend will stay warm and dry.

Trail Work In Calgary

It looks like there may very well be trail maintenance in Nose Hill this fall. Every registered group who wants to do work on the hill has to have volunteers take a 1-hour course offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation for the position of Crew Leader. THIS DOES NOT MEAN everyone willing to volunteer has to take the course. This course will be offered to those interested in leading a volunteer maintenance crew. Once the course is taken it will be applicable to lead maintenance crews in all the natural area parks in the city. In order for us to do the maintenance we need members to come forward and learn from the city so that we can do maintenance, otherwise it is a no go (re: if you don't volunteer, you can't do trailwork, riders potentially lose access, your fault? YES!). Please send an email to us to confirm a spot. We will try to organize an evening so that everyone can have their training at the same time. Training will happen sometime in July.

Trail Work In Kananaskis

The Friends of Kananaskis are in their third year of recruiting volunteers to perform trail maintenance in the four sections of K-Country. Every second Saturday until September (June 10, July 8, August 12, and September 9) you can head out, do some trail work, and meet a lot of great people. Schedule a date in your calendar right now so that you don't forget. Call Chris Collom at 242-5449 for further info. JUST SO YOU KNOW, Senior Outdoor Groups to date have had the highest percentage of volunteer trail maintenance hours in K-country. Let's change that.
