Bowmont Park 2010 Update
To clarify which trails in Bowmont Park are open, please have a look at the “Bowmont Park Brochure” on the City of Calgary website (below) for Bowmont Park. The brochure is also available on this website. The City of Calgary website also has more details and maps under the links: "Bowmont Improvement Project" and "Bowmont Management Plan".

CMBA and "Side Show Bob" - looking forward into 2010
CMBA is pleased to welcome Don Yuen who will represent CMBA on the Bowmont Park Management Committee. Don lives in the area and is an avid rider in the park, especially "Side Show Bob"
CMBA has given the city a GPS track of Side Show Bob trail. We have also informed the Committee and the City that our primary goal for 2010 is the improvement and signing of SSB. CMBA wants to be able to use its volunteer base to maintain the trail, rerouting where necessary. We will not allow the city to close or "pave" the trail. The first section we will be working on is the part along the ridge at the east end of the park. This section requires major work with some reroutes. We will be calling on volunteers to help us with this work.
Watch for information sessions this spring at Bow Cycle and in Bowmont Park.

Bowmont Park 2010 and beyond
The meetings for the Bowmont Park Committee are set to resume meetings in October. CMBA has provided a GPS map of Side Show Bob which will be the primary focus moving forward. Next year, CMBA plans to do extensive trail work and upgrades using volunteer labour to ensure the trails are built the way we want them built. The current map will be marked into sections (similiar to Olivier's great work in Fish Creek) to ease the discussions among the varios riders.
We will also help the city in removing any unathorized structure in the park. The city has a clear policy on these and they will continue to be a sore point with them. CMBA will also work toward establishing an area for a small skills park but that will be a long term project.
CMBA is also looking for a local rep to sit on the board. Someone who lives close, rides the park, is passionate about biking and willing to sit in meetings 4x per year. Interested candidates can emial vicepresident@cmbalink.com or post here.
GPS trails
Thanks to the help of 3 local riders, we were able to get GPS tracks of all the trails in Bowmont Park on Friday, May, 29th. Once compiled this will be sent to the city for discussion.
