There are at least five campgrounds between Calgary and Banff National Park. Note that Highway 1A is the preferred cycling egress route from Calgary's NW. In order from Calgary's western City limit to Banff:

  • Calgary West KOA, Box 10, Site 12, SS #1, Calgary, Alberta T2M 4N3, Free reservations - 1-800-562-0842, info- 403-288-0411, FAX 286-1612. 1 km S of Hwy 1. OK access across the Bow Valley to Hwy 1A.
  • Calaway Park is a large kiddy ride park with an RV park & campground. Could be noisy! Calaway R.V. Park & Campground does have tenting sites. email - calaway@calawaypark.com Phone - 403-249-7372. .5 km S of Hwy 1. No convenient access back to Hwy. 1A.
  • Green Acres Motel and RV Park - 14.4 km E of Banff Natl. Park gate @ Deadman's Flats - Toll free - 1-800-820-5344, phone - 403-678-5344, FAX - 678-6691. On Hwy 1. No convenient access to Hwy 1A.
  • Bow Valley Campgrounds @ Willow Rock and Bow Valley Provincial Park - Box 8585, Canmore, Alberta T1W 2V3. Phone - 403-673-2163. On Hwy 1 but can be accessed via Hwy 1X, a connecting hwy. to Hwy 1A.

Please allow some time, if possible, to day tour on portions of Calgary's 400 km regional pathway system if you have interests in checking out our City's spectacular sites.
