Trail Day – Trampled Under Foot – August 22

  • Trampled Under Foot

Our brand new trail ‘Trampled Under Foot’ (the third trail for our Jumped Up Loops project) is almost ready to officially open. Come out and help put the finishing touches on it and then get to be one of the first to ride it! No experience is necessary and you do not need to be a CMBA member, but please RSVP below.

One stretch of about 400m saw a lot of animal traffic during the recent exceptional rainfall and the trail name seems very appropriate! The tread would get smoothed out eventually but until then it’s a rough ride. We can speed up the process with some raking, tamping & riding!

We’ll meet at the work area on Trampled Under Foot so please ride there via Kashmir or Ten Years Gone (or hike) as you prefer. For this event it’s fine to arrive at any time and you’re welcome to work for just an hour or two (or as long as you like) before/after riding the rest of the 4.6km trail. From the sign-posted junction at the top of Kashmir, follow Trampled Under Foot down the hill for about 800m until you find us (see map below).

This will be fairly light work on an already built trail, so your regular riding (or hiking) shoes should be okay. If possible, bring riding gloves or work gloves and eye protection e.g. sunglasses. We’ll bring all the tools and extra gloves, safety glasses etc. in case you need them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a CMBA member to volunteer?

No! We'd love it if you also sign-up as a member or make a donation, but volunteering your time is the most valuable thing you can do.

What should I bring?

Please bring a bottle of water or something else to drink. Trail-building is thirsty work! Also, please bring and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots. If you have some favourite work gloves and sunglasses or other eye-protection, bring them too. You might also want to bring sunscreen, insect repellant, a rain jacket, a hat/cap and a snack.
